The National Weather Service has issued an air quality alert due to heavy wildfire smoke from Canada.
According to NWS models, smoke is likely to impact southern Minnesota this afternoon and will linger until Friday. The alert itself is scheduled to run through 11 p.m. Friday night.
This smoke is expected to push the Air Quality Index to reach Orange or Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups category. These include people with lung disease, heart disease and children and older adults.
