Soon, you’ll be back in the Forbidden Lands, in search of the biggest, baddest creature you can tackle. Monster Hunter Wilds is getting closer and closer, and Capcom has finally revealed more creatures we’ll face when players jump into the upcoming second beta test, in addition to a wealth of pre-order bonuses if you’ve been thinking about putting your money down before the full release.
Somehow, it’s been seven years since World brought the action-RPG series to a much wider audience (yeah, I know, right?). That means we’re all excited to see where Monster Hunter Wilds takes things next, and to see which new beasts we’ll be able to slay. Just a few months after the first Monster Hunter Wilds beta, another has been announced that’s considerably bigger.
Arkveld, the beast adorning the action game‘s cover art, will be in the next playable pre-release portion. Not only that, but you can access the Training Room as well, making this a considerably larger vertical slice of what Wilds is providing than we expected. That’s not too surprising given that we’re very close to launch now (and World did the same thing with its flagship monster, Nergigante), but it’s a welcome addition nonetheless that’ll give players new and old a lot to dive into.
The showcase gave Gore Magala some time to shine, a notorious beastie who’s made a couple of appearances before, giving those familiar with past Monster Hunter games yet more to chew on lore-wise. The Iceshard Cliffs provides a fresh area to explore, playing home to newcomer Hirabami alongside Gore Magala and the also-returning Nerscylla.
Tiers for pre-orders were also shown. Of course you have the base game, then you can get the Deluxe Edition, which gives you the Deluxe Pack. Then, if you’re really dedicated, you can pick up the Premium Deluxe Edition, giving you ‘premium bonuses’ and two DLC packs of cosmetic additions.
If you’re an equipment nerd (like I sometimes tend to be), that last one might be the one to go for to have that satisfyingly full inventory. The Guild Knight set comes with all pre-orders as well.
The second Monster Hunter Wilds open beta takes place across two weekends on the following dates:
- Thursday, February 6 at 19:00 PST/22:00 EST/03:00 GMT to Sunday, February 9 at 18:59 PST/21:59 EST/02:59 GMT
- Thursday, February 13 at 19:00 PST/22:00 EST/03:00 GMT to Sunday, February 16 at 18:59 PST/21:59 EST/02:59 GMT.
As for the full Monster Hunter Wilds release date, that’s arriving on February 28, 2025. We’ve broken down all the Monster Hunter Wilds weapons and all the Monster Hunter Wilds monsters revealed so far to give you a fighting chance.
