Michael E. Bissen, 62, of Rose Creek, MN, died Thursday, July 11, 2024 at St. Marys Hospital in Rochester after being sick for four months.

Michael Edward Bissen was born on November 9, 1961 in Osage, Iowa to Wilfred and Mary (Hogan) Bissen. He was baptized at Sacred Heart Church in Adams where he was a member his entire life. Michael, known by many as “Bucky” graduated from Southland High School in 1980 and was an active member of FFA and 4-H and was also a member of the Knights of Columbus.

After graduation, he started farming with his Dad and took over the family farm when his Dad passed away in 1996. Michael took good care of the operation that his father started in 1947. He quit milking cows in 2000 and continued raising corn, soybeans and Holstein steers. After the milk cows were gone, he vacationed out west; His destination was the Pendleton Rodeo in Pendleton, Oregon. He traveled the same route every year stopping at other favorite spots along the way. For many years he supported the 4-H Ribbon Auction and was always ready to lend a helping hand. A very generous person, he was very witty and you never knew what he would come up with next. He enjoyed visiting with friends and strangers and watching his favorite television programs.

He was preceded in death by his parents Wilfred and Mary Bissen and sister Dorothy Nolte.

Michael is survived by his Sisters: Virginia Bissen, Rose Creek, Susan Bissen, Rochester, MN, Patricia Bissen, Rochester, MN; Brothers: Joseph Bissen, Rochester, MN and Thomas Bissen, Minneapolis, MN; Brother-in-law Roger Nolte, Waucoma, IA; seven nieces and nephews.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 11:00 am on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Adams with Father James Berning officiating. A Knights of Columbus Rosary will be at 5:00 pm at the Adams Funeral Home on Friday, July 19, 2024 followed by a visitation until 8:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at the Adams Funeral on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 am. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred.
