All Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills and which to unlock

What are the best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills? As one of two dedicated magic users, the Sorcerer is defensively on the frail side. However, they also have incredible damage potential as a main spellcaster, such as whipping up a blizzard or deploying electrified traps to shock enemies that dare go near it.

Unlike many vocations in Dragon’s Dogma 2, this class is relatively simple for you and your pawn to unlock, though you may need to consult the Dragon’s Dogma 2 map to find them. Once you unlock the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer vocation, you’ll have the power to manipulate the elements at your fingertips, so here are the skills they learn with each level.

Best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills

Conjuring magic constantly while managing your stamina is the key to being an effective Sorcerer. Let your pawns do the hard work of getting up close to foes as you charge up and unleash the elements on your enemies. Pay close attention to any tips on elemental weaknesses and resistances your pawns might impart during battle, as it can make all the difference.

The best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills are:

  • High Salamander
  • High Hagol
  • High Thundermine
  • High Seism

The Salamander Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skill blazes the ground with flames.

High Salamander

This is your fire spell of choice. While it has a long charge time, you will unleash a line of fire that burns on the ground for several seconds. Its range is deceptively wide, meaning enemies just inches away will erupt into flames. It’s particularly effective against minotaurs, canines, and goblins.

The Hagol Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skill looks like a blizzard.

High Hagol

Creating a blizzard for a short time might not sound as effective as smacking an enemy with blocks of ice, as the Frigor spells do, but Hagol and its upgraded form can freeze enemies to the spot. This leaves larger and tougher foes, such as cyclopes and ogres, unable to move while your party clambers on top to stab them in the eyes.

The Thundermine Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skill deploys an electrical mine.

High Thundermine

A more defensive spell that’s excellent at keeping away smaller foes, such as goblins and wolves that would gang up on you at every opportunity. It’s also the main weakness of the saurians, aquatic lizards with spears that move at a breakneck pace. It’s perhaps your best life insurance policy, as you can have multiple Thundermines live at any time, giving opponents the shock of their lives.

The ground is erupting from the shock of the Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills, namely Seism.

High Seism

If an enemy has no elemental weakness, then this is your spell of choice. It takes an age to conjure, but the ground beneath your enemy’s feet will fling them into the air once you do. They’ll also be prone for a short time, allowing your allies to follow up with powerful techniques.

Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerers can conjure up elemental spells of their own vocation learned via the guild master, but they can also use some of the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Mage skills and passives. Therefore, we recommend leveling up this vocation a few times before converting to Sorcerer, as casting some spells is lengthy.

The most basic of Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills is the Magick Bolt.

All Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer core skills

Every vocation also has a bunch of core skills that you can unlock to give them a little more utility. This is yet another area where Mages also learn the majority of them and revolve around these core skills:

Sorcerer Core Skills Cost (Dcp) Class
Magick Bolt Free Sorcerer
Galvanize Free Sorcerer
Bursting Bolt  150 Sorcerer
Quickspell 250 Mage
Levitate 400 Mage

Magick Bolt

The Magick Bolt is basic attack, and it’s relatively weak. However, it can be helpful in taking down harpies and their sleep-inducing arias. It can also interrupt other magick users from casting their high-powered spells.

The Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer skills include Galvanize, which has the Arisen meditate.

Galvanize

This replaces Anodyne, which you might be familiar with if you’ve played as a Mage. Instead of deploying a health-restoring shield, it allows you to gradually increase your stamina. This can be incredibly handy in a pinch, but you are a sitting duck while you use it, so make sure no enemies are around you.

The Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer is charging the Bursting Bolt skill.

Bursting Bolt

Store up your Magick Bolt to power them up before unleashing it in a powerful blow. Hold the attack button to charge, then let go to release. This can be helpful for dealing with smaller enemies, but isn’t hugely effective against bigger foes, like ogres or cyclopes.

The Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer is channelling his stamina into his

Quickspell

This key ability allows your Sorcerer to cast spells far more quickly at the cost of some stamina. Since your Sorcerer also has the Galvanize skill to recover this stat quickly on the fly, you can cast a bunch of spells rapidly and deal with onslaughts of enemies, making Quickspell excellent for crowd control.

It's a bit hard to tell, but the Dragon's Dogma 2 Sorcerer is levitating by using his core skills.

Levitate

This shared ability with the Mages allows you to float for a short time. This can be handy for tackling tricky platforming sections such as the one in the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Nameless Village quest or traversing mountains and towns for hidden treasure chests.

Best Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer party

It’s worth noting that if you take on the Sorcerer vocation, you won’t be the party’s primary healer. The RPG game allows you to gather up to three pawns, but only one of these is your own companion.

There are two possibilities when it comes to preparing the best party of pawns. Your main companion should be a melee fighting class, such as the Fighter or the Warrior, with skills that both chop enemies to pieces and distract them from attacking you. Since your maximum health leaves a lot to be desired, you may opt to go with the Mage as a secondary pawn to keep you and your fellow party members healthy and protected, and have a bit of flexibility when it comes to damaging options against flying enemies by choosing an Archer as your third pawn.

That’s everything you should know about the Dragon’s Dogma 2 Sorcerer, but we recommend visiting the Maister locations guide to learn how to unlock this vocation’s ultimate skills. There are plenty of other advanced Dragon’s Dogma 2 vocations to unlock, and while finding the Sorcerer is easy, accessing some of the other advanced roles, such as the Magick Archer or Trickster, is another matter entirely.
